ON is used to initiate heating and OFF is used to interrupt a timed cycle. On RC units  the front panel REMote on button transfers control to the remote operator from the front panel on/of push buttons. On R type units the the foot pedal is most often used in combination with the Timer/Power Control Station Part#7615. For simple On/Off without a timer use the single foot pedal Part #7625.
